Belgian national team star Kevin De Bruyne appeared in press statements, after being eliminated from the Euro 2024 final by losing 1-0 to France.

De Bruyne said: “ It's a shame. We had a plan and we executed it well. We knew that with their qualities they would have more possession of the ball.”

He added: “We had our moments, though. Although it was not the case, but our plan was good until their goal came, and we had little time to react.”

He continued: “I tried to do everything I could.” Today I played more in a defensive position and did everything I could to help the team, although it is unfortunate that I was not able to complete my opportunity.”

He concluded: “Although.” Although we were not one of the favourites, I think we let ourselves down in the match against Slovakia (a 1-0 loss in the first round of the group stage).”
