Spanish defender Nacho Fernandez, who recently joined the ranks of Al-Qadisiyah, spoke about his decision to come to the Saudi League despite receiving an offer from an American club.

Nacho signed a two-year contract with Al-Qadisiyah, until 2026, after ending his long career with Real Madrid at the end of his contract term this June.

Nacho said: “When you have fateful choices that you must choose from, you choose what is best for you and your family, and everyone must respect that without any problem.”

He added: “Moving to Al-Qadisiyah? It is the best decision for me. I was clear with myself, as I had made my decision months ago, and I wanted to end my experience with Real Madrid in the best possible way.”

He continued: “ “I received offers from the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Real Madrid, but I preferred that my end be winning the club’s 15th Champions League as its captain.”

Nacho pointed out that he has positive memories in Saudi Arabia, where he lifted the Spanish Super Cup in Riyadh, saying: “This was my first title as captain of Real Madrid. This is a great pride.” Winning the Spanish Super Cup is one of my wonderful memories in Saudi Arabia.”
